Ithaca College Women's Track and Field

During this semester I chose to walk on to the Women's Track and Field team to try a sport I have always wanted to do. With no experience I spent much the semester learning new things, and learning about the sport. I was incredibly fortunate to have a group of girls who want the best for me, and very quickly took me under their wings. I have had the best time and can't wait to see where this new sport takes me.

Ithaca College Community Math Day

This semester I stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to volunteer at community math day in Williams Hall. I spent my time volunteering in the arts and crafts room where I had the privilege of teaching young children of many ages how to cut and make shapes, make paper snowflakes, paper air planes, and origami.

SLI #1

Mental Blocks: Leading Self

During this semester I attended this SLI on mental blocks. We all face mental blocks in a multitude of ways and I know it is something I struggle with. In this session we were split up into teams of 4 and given 6 wooden building blocks per person. We were given slips of paper with puzzle assignments, and rules to follow in order to build a structure. In order to move onto the next assignment you must work with your group to complete each "level" to overcome the mental blocks.

SLI #2

Women Leadership Panel: Leading in a Diverse World

During this semester I attended this SLI on women's leadership. It is every day that women struggle to find their roles as leaders in the workplace, especially male dominated fields. This panel was filled with women leaders here at Ithaca College, including President Cornish. These women discussed their own experiences/stories on how they have made it to their current roles. A very big key point being, "knowing your value."

Putting Out Fires Without Water: Discovering Leadership Skills in a Time of Change: Leading Others

During this semester I attended this SLI on leading in a time of change. With our world having changed after the Pandemic this was insightful on understanding how we can lead others through change. The world is always changing, and a key point was "looking for opportunity in chaos." This session also discussed that different leadership skills are needed for different scenarios and it is important to learn when your skills are needed and when you need to collaborate with the people around you.
